Macroscopic Features |
Oval, long cylindrical or linKed shape, 1~5cm long, 0.5~2.5cm in diameter. Externally off-white or yellowish-white, remnants of brown outer sKin at the indented area. Brittle texture, easily broKen; fractured surface is powdery white; xylem has a slightly radial arrangement; long cylindrical pieces have a strongly fibrous nature. faint odor; slightly sweet and spicy taste. |

Drains water, expels rheum, removes swelling, disperses stagnation. Apply to edema, tumescence, dropsy in thoracic and abdominal cavities, phlegm and retained fluid, shortness of breath due to adverse rising of qi, unsmooth urine and stool, externally used to swelling carbuncle and sore. |
