Macroscopic Features Long and strip-like, one end is relatively narrow and thick, another end is relatively wide and slightly thin, uneven size. Externally reddish-brown, rough, with longitudinal straight wrinkles; one surface has obvious raised fibers, which have numerous fuzzy brown hairs on two sides. Hard and pliable texture, hard to break, new cut surface is fibrous. faint odor, tasteless.
Quality Requirements Superior medicinal material has hard and pliable texture, hard to break.
Properties Bitter, astringent, Neutral.
Functions Astringes to stop bleeding. Apply to hematemesis, non-traumatic hemorrhage, hematuria, hemafecia, metrorrhagia and metrostaxia.
