Macroscopic Features |
Main roots often thick, straight and long, some cylindrical but irregularly twisted, 6~20mm diameter; many lateral roots, with numerous thin roots. Externally grayish-brown, with irregular longitudinal and horizontal cleavages. Hard texture, difficult to break; fractured surface is yellowish-white or pale yellow. Cortex is thick, rarely falls off; inner surface is smooth and sticky. Externally resemble to chang shan, but with white center on fractured surface, so called ‘white chang shan’. faint odor; taste bland. Pieces are slightly yellow. |
