Macroscopic Features |
Rhizome is long cylindrical shape, or has branches, variable length, 30~60cm long, 2~4mm diameter. Externally yellowish-white or pale yellow, lustrous; presents longitudinal wrinkles and obvious circular joints, with grayish-brown bulb and small roots on the joints, internode is 1~3cm long. Light in substance, tenacious texture, fibrous fractured surface; yellowish-white, with radial cracks, or with one hole in the center. faint odor; taste slightly sweet. |

Cools the blood, stops bleeding, clears heat, promotes urination. Applied to pyreticosis and dipsesis, hematemesis, non-traumatic hemorrhage, dyspnea and coughing due to lung-heat, vomiting and hiccups caused by gastric heat, stramgutia, and difficulty in micturition, edema, and jaundice. |
