Macroscopic Features |
Tuberous root is long spherical or fusiform, longitudinal cut into pieces. Whole piece is 5~12cm long, 1.5~3.5cm diameter. Externally reddish-brown or reddish-tan; with longitudinal wrinkles, small horizontal wrinkles and long horizontal lenticels; cork is easily to fall off layer by layer, with reddish brown; cut surface is off-white or pale reddish-brown and wrinkled. Angled-sliced is oval shaped, 2.5~5cm long, 2~3cm wide, cut surface is off-white or pale reddish-brown; one raised crest sticks up in the center, with radial veins; ridge is relatively thick and slightly perked up or curled. Light, hard and brittle texture; easily broken with powdery. faint odor; taste sweet. |

Apply to burns and scalds and swelling, scrofula, scalding injuries, wet sores, pyrexial malaria, epilepsy, hematodiarrhoea, hemorrhoidal hemorrhage, prolapse of hemorrhoids, leucorrhea, and injuries from falls, traumatic hemorrhage. |
