Description |
Deciduous trees, 5-20m tall; slightly pubescent on young branches. Leaves bipinnate, with short stalk; petioles and rachis slightly pubescent, no glands; pinnae 3-5 pairs; leaflets 4-7 pairs, alternate, ovate or oblong, 2.5-3.5cm long, 1.5-2.5cm wide, slightly pubescent on both sides, both ends obtuse, with short stalks, fragrant; calyx campanulate, with 5 short teeth, golden hairs the same as peduncles; petals 5, glabrous, lanceolate, 2.5-3mm long, base a bit connate; stamens 10, distinct, as long as corolla or a bit longer, anthers ovate, top with 1 deciduate gland; ovary pubescent, nearly sessile, stigma small, filaments cylindrical. Pod narrow-oblong, hovering, 10-20cm long, 1.2-1.4cm wide, fruits convoluted after dehiscence. Seeds oblong or nearly round, fresh glossy red, 5-8mm long, 4.5-7mm wide. Flowering: April to July; fruiting: July to October. |

Growing in ravines, streamsides and forests. Or can be cultivated in gardens. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Fujian, Guizhou, Hainan and etc. The medicinal materials are mainly produced in Guangdong, Guangxi and Yunnan. |
