Description |
Herb, stemless. Most leaves herbaceous, concentrated to be stellate rosulate, bar shape, 6-19cm long, 5-15cm wide, anterior-end subulately long acuminate, leaf base often enlarged, purplish red, entire, glabrous. Capitulum, diameter 7-10cm, sessile, usually 25-30 or more concentrated to be ball-shaped; involucre cylindric, 10-12cm long, involucral bracts herbaceous, about 5 layers, anterior end purplish red, outer layer oblong, middle layer oblong, inner layer bar-shaped, obtuse or slightly pointed, margin membranous; stipule blades setaceous; corolla 12-15mm long. Achenes, 3-4mm long, anterior end with membranous coronule; pappus white, outer layer hairy, short, inner layer plumose. Flowering: July to August. |
