Description |
Evergreen trees, up to 15m, glabrous. Branches brown or grey, without any prickles. The first true leaves when young are pinnate leaves, leaflets degenerate when mature, the visible leaves metamorphose from petioles; petioles sheathing, coriaceous, sickle shaped, 6-10cm long, 5-13mm wide, narrow and acute at both ends, glabrous, with bulging parallel veins 3-5; stipules triangular and fleshy. Spherical capitulums numerous, solitary or 2-3 clustered at axil, 6-8mm in diameter; common peduncle delicate, 8-10mm long; flowers golden, slightly fragrant; calyx about half of corolla; petals ca. 2mm, pale green; stamens numerous, emerge from corolla; ovary covered with yellow-brown hairs, styles ca. 4mm. Pod flat, has yellow-brown hairs when young, apex blunt and with convex head, base cuneate, 4-12cm long, 7-10mm wide; seeds 2-8, flat elliptic, 5-7mm long. Flowering: March to October, fruiting: August to December. |
