Description |
Perennial herbs. Rhizome short and large, spindle-shaped. Complete blades bar-shaped to bar-shaped lanceolate, clustered, numerous; slender and pointed, green, some with yellow longitudinal stripes or margin yellow, 10-30cm long, 1-2cm wide, apex acuminate; hard. Scapes longer than leaves, up to 50cm long; flowers small, white, 2-4 flowers clustered, raceme, pedicel joint located in upper part; perianth foliaceous, lobes 6; stamens 6; ovary with 3 chambers, style linear. Capsules oblate, each chamber with 3-5 seeds. Flowering in May, fruiting in August. |

Growing on dank lands. Widely cultivated in most parts of China. The medicinal materials are mainly produced in South Africa. |
