Description |
Woody vines, 6m long. Stem cylindrical. Branchlets with edges, and white pubescence, glabrous after deciduous; leaves opposite, petioles 5-7.5cm long, ternate compound leaves. Cymes conical, acrogenous or axillary; flowers bisexual, 3-4cm in diameter; sepals 4-7, oblong or elliptic, 1-4cm long, 0.3-2cm wide, pubescent outside; no petals; stamens numerous, glabrous; carpel numerous. Achenes flat, elliptic, 3mm long, sparsely pubescent, with feathery persistent style, 5cm long. Flowering: March to April, fruiting April to July. |

Distribution |
Growing on hill-slopes at altitude 100-2,400m, near ravines of valleys, and in forest margins. Distributed in South Shaanxi, Gansu, Southwest Fujian, Hubei, Hunan and etc. The medicinal materials are mainly produced in Shaanxi, Gansu, Fujian, Sichuan and etc. |

Indications & Usage |
Edema, difficulty in micturition, stranguria and urodynia due to damp-heat in lower-JIAO.Oral administration: decocting, Chuanmutong 3-6g. Not use in cases of pregnancies, or those with weak qi and body fluid impairment, spermatorrhea or enuresis diuresis. |

1. Treat urinary tract infection: armand clematis, plantain seeds, fresh water cattail, diverseleaf knotweed 9g each, decoct in water and swallow. 2. Treat pharyngitis and aphonia: armand clematis, grassleaf sweetflag rhizome, bombyx mori 12g each, decoct in water and swallow. |
