Description |
Evergreen shrubs; sprout green, with hairs. Leaf coriaceous, long elliptic or invert ovate, 6-12cm long, 2-5cm wide, tip gradually pointed, tip blunt, basal part broad wedge shaped, hairless. Flower big, white, aromatic, solitary on branch end or leaf axil; calyx 5-7 lobed, lobe linear, 1-2cm long; corolla tube 2-3cm long, lobe 5 or more; filament short, anther linear; style thick, stigma flat and wide. Fruit yellow, coriaceous or fleshy, ovate or cylindrical, with 5-7 longitudinal ridges, apex with persistent calyx lobes. Flowering: June to August, fruiting: September to November. |

Growing in warm thin forests of hills or on deserted slopes, ditch sides and roadsides. Distributed in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Hubei, Fujian, Taiwan and etc. The medicinal materials are mainly produced in Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan and Fujian. |

Indications & Usage |
Deficient restlessness and insomnia due to pyreticosis, jaundice, stramgutia, diabetes, conjunctival congestion, pharyngalgia, hematemesis, non-traumatic hemorrhage, hematodiarrhoea, hematuria, pathopyretic ulcer, swelling pains caused by sprains.Oral administration: decocting, 10-20g; or made as pills or powders. External application: powdered for applying after mixed with fluid. |

Examples |
1. Treat perspiration due to typhus, vomiting, deficient restlessness and insomnia: cape jasmine 14 (cut open), xiangchi 4 he (wrap in cotton). Grind two drugs, decoct cape jasmine in 4 sheng, decoct to 2.5 sheng, add lobster sauce, cook to 1.5 sheng, remove residues, and swallow in 2 times. Warm up and swallow for the first time, and the second after vomiting. 2. Treat typhus recurrence caused by overexertion: immature orange fruit 3 (stir fried), cape jasmine 14 (cut open), black curd beans 1 sheng (wrap in cotton). Decoct the above three drugs in 7 sheng clear water, decoct to 4 sheng, add immature orange fruit, cape jasmine, cook and concentrate to 2 sheng, put into lobster sauce, cook to boiling for 5-6 times, remove residues, warm up and swallow, cover quilt to promote perspiration. for patients with dyspepsia, eat rhubarb as thin as chess pieces, 5-6 in total. |
