Description |
Undershrub, about 80cm high. branch tiled, branchlet covered with stellate tomentums. Leaf alternate; petiole 4-15mm long, covered with tomentums; stipule drill shaped, about 1.5mm long, caducous; leaf blade of lower part palmate 3-5 deeply lobed, lobe opening deep below the middle part, round and narrow, 1.5-6cm long, 1-4cm wide, lobe rhombus or invert ovate, gourd-shaped, blunt in the tip, basal part round or nearly cordate, with sawtooth, both sides covered with stellate short hard hairs, leaf of upper part generally with 3 deep lobes. Flower solitary or nearly fasciate, peduncle 2-3mm long; bractlet about 7mm long, basal part accretes, sparsely covered with stellate hairs; calyx shorter than or equal to bractlet in length, ovate, with sharp tip, covered with stellate hairs; corolla light red, petal 10-15mm long; staminal column hairless, equal to petal in length, fruit spherical, about 6mm in diameter, with spines and long hard hairs, spine end with overhead hook. Seed smooth and hairless. Flowering: June to September. |

Indications & Usage |
Whole herb: Rheumatic arthralgia, diarrhea, dysentery, common cold, pain caused by swelling in the throat, cough with lung heat, flow of wind toxins, pyocutaneous disease and swelling, injuries caused by falls, venomous snake bites. Root: Rheumatic arthralgia, weariness and debilitation, hepatitis, malaria, edema, leucorrhea, injuries caused by falls, superficial infections, toxic swelling.Whole plant: oral administration: decocting, 9-15g; fresh products 15-30g. External application: appropriate amount, smashed for applying. Roots: oral administration: decocting 9-15g, fresh products 30-60g; or stewed with meat. External application: appropriate amount, smashed for applying. |

Examples |
1. Anemogenous toothache: procumbent Indian mallow 120g, mutton 240g. Add into half liquor and water, stew for 3 hours and eat one time each day. 2. Dysentery: procumbent Indian mallow 9-15g. Decoct in water and swallow. 3. Rheumatic arthritis, overstrain impairment: procumbent Indian mallow root 90g, pig gel 250g, yellow wine 1 bowl. Flush, stew and eat. |
