Description |
Shrubs, 1-3m tall. Except pleurogenous particular flowering branches, no branches. Leaves alternate; petioles 0.8-1.5cm long, with grooves and narrow wings; leaves firm and papery, slightly thick, elliptic-lanceolate, inverted lanceolate, 9-12cm long, 2.5-4cm wide, apex acute or acuminate, base cuneate, margin usually with prominently round teeth, with margin glands between teeth, or nearly margin entire, middle vein at back bulging, with sparse and not prominent glands near margin; lateral veins 12-15 pairs, combined into not prominent margin veins. Compound umbels or panicle made up of corymbs, borne at top of pleurogenous particular flowering branches, flower branches 30-50cm long, apex usually downwards bent, all scattered leaves, rare only with leaves above middle; pedicels 1-2cm long; calyx ovate or oblong-ovate, top acute or blunt, ca. 2.5mm long; petals pink, rare red or white, broadly ovate, rare base slightly pubescent; stamens slightly shorter than petals, anthers lanceolate or ovate, apex acute, no glands; length of pistils the same as that of petals. Fruits spherical, diameter 8-10mm, dark red, with prominent glands. Flowering: June to July, Fruiting: December to March to April of the following year. |
