About
Welcome to the “O Southern Sea, O Lion Hill”, a digital database dedicated to preserving and showcasing the history of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), formerly known as Hong Kong Baptist College. The database's title is derived from the first line of the HKBU anthem, adopted in 1957, reflecting the University's longstanding tradition and spirit. The homepage features a historical drawing titled “The Campus in 1966” by Mr. Kong Kai Ming, capturing a moment in the University's history.
Launched in 2021, this initiative by the Library aims to digitize and make accessible the publications from the academic and administrative units of the HKBU. Through meticulous processing, full-text search and access to this collection enable users to explore the University's profound history. Additional publications will be added progressively, enriching the database over time.
We extend our gratitude to the University and its academic and administrative units for their invaluable support. A special acknowledgment goes to the School of Communication, which in 2023 generously funded the digitization of its publications.
The Library welcomes donations of materials or funds related to this project or the general management of the University Archives. For further information, please contact Special Collections and Archives at libarc@hkbu.edu.hk.
